Outlook on China’s Galvanized and Color Coated Steel Market in June
  1. Demand for Coated Steel Sheets and Coils Declines

In May, the overall demand for coated and plated sheet and coil in the automotive industry remained relatively stable. Due to the lack of consumer confidence, the domestic sales of white goods such as air conditioners and refrigerators have been lackluster.

The purchase volume of galvanized sheets has declined year-on-year. Coupled with high overseas inflation and inventory pressure, the growth rate of home appliance exports has slowed down.

Some enterprises have cut orders, suppressing the demand for coated and galvanized sheets and coils. Due to the sluggishness of the real estate industry and the slowdown in the progress of some infrastructure projects, the order volume of galvanized sheet and coil and color-coated sheet and coil is insufficient.

In addition, as the downstream industries entered the traditional off-season for demand in June, it is expected that the demand for domestic coated and plated sheet and coil downstream industries will continue to decline next month.

  1. Supply of Coated Steel Sheets and Coils Continues to Fall

According to a survey conducted by SteelHome on 42 domestic steel mills, there are 117 galvanized sheet production lines. Among them, 109 production lines are in operation, with an operating rate of 93.16% based on production lines, an increase of 0.79 percentage points compared with the survey in April.

The total production capacity of galvanized sheets investigated was 39.614 million tons, and the operating capacity was 34.152 million tons.

The operating rate based on production capacity was 86.21%, an increase of 0.13 percentage points compared with the survey in April.
